As an update to my to my previous post concerning the current version of Google Gears not being compatible with the upcoming update to Firefox, I just got word this afternoon that an update to Google Gears will be pushed out early and in time for the release of Firefox 3.0.1.
As per Aaron Boodman on the Gears Users group:
I released Gears 0.3.24.3, which is marked for compatibility with Firefox 3.0.*, to 1% of public users Friday afternoon. I plan to increase that to 10% then 100% over the next few days, in time for the Wednesday afternoon scheduled release of Firefox 3.0.1.
So it looks like WordPress 2.6, Firefox 3.0.1 and an updated Google Gears might just all land within a few days of each other. You can’t say a large entity like Google doesn’t come through in a pinch sometimes.
I love it when everything comes together like this.
