I was busy banging around the backend of this site after doing an auto-update of the 2.7-almost beta core when I thought that snapping up a few screen grabs of what is sure to turn out to be some favorite features of the upcoming WordPress 2.7 series scheduled for a tentative release date of November 10th.
So, without further adieu, here ya’ go:
Comment replying from the Dashboard.
The new “Quick Edit” post feature.
The “Add New” Plugins page. From the WP Plugins Directory and
uploading a plugin’s .zip file from your own computer.
Uploading new media via the 2.7 “Media” page, not just when using built-in editor.
And, of course, the new WordPress core auto-upgrade.
There’s also a movable Dashboard now but like the the new 2.7 Admin itself, it hasn’t quite yet reached it’s final form and is better represented in The Visual Design of 2.7 post. Ryan Boren also has several links that include different info about the new up and coming WordPress 2.7 release in 2.7: Getting Ready for Public Beta post as well.
What began with the 2.3 series and carried on through the 2.5 and 2.6 series has finally evolved into what I consider a very usable user interface for the WordPress Admin.
