There’s a new “2.7″ section on the “Docs” main page at Wordpress.org which lists links to three new compatibility lists for the new up and coming version of WordPress. I know it’s there because I added it myself when I realized that although the lists existed, there was no way for a user to get to them from the main site. I figured it might be nice to give current WordPress users a heads up as to what’s currently compatible with WordPress 2.7 and what’s not. And just to make sure everyone knows that these lists do indeed exist, I’ll add them here as well:
2.7 Core Update Host Compatibility list
You’ll notice that there’s a third list for 2.7 which involves the new automatic updating of the WordPress core feature and the hosts where this new feature has been tested satisfactorily (or not). Like the venerable WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin, automatic upgrading of the WordPress installation (core) didn’t always work for everyone due to host restrictions and configurations and the same goes for 2.7’s similar feature. Now you can easily check out which host plays nice with 2.7 and it’s new self updating capability.
There’s more being added to this new section as we speak so “Forewarned is Forearmed” being what it is and all that, I highly recommend all you current WordPress users check out these lists before 2.7 hits the streets so you’ll know what’s what.
